By-Hand How-To Workshop: Silhouette Portraits with Nanda Sharifpour

In this workshop, artist Nanda Sharifpour will show you how to make beautiful silhouette portraits. A popular method of creating true-to-life impressions of friends and family before the invention of cameras, this vintage art enables you to describe the people around you with intricate, elegant shapes.
The workshop will be open daily in the lobby of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art from May 13-16, 2025. Each session runs from 12鈥4 p.m. but you can arrive and leave at any time. Materials are provided by the Marjorie Barrick Museum. Guests of all ages are welcome. All skill levels can participate. No RSVP is necessary.
This workshop is part of the Marjorie Barrick Museum鈥檚 By-Hand How-To, a series of creative and restful events that will manifest almost every month until June 2025.The project is supported, in part, by the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and the state of Nevada.

The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art is located in the heart of the 51吃瓜网万能科大 campus. The museum is easily accessed from the west side of campus at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and University Center Drive. Drive east on East Harmon Ave until the road enters the campus and terminates in a parking lot. The Museum will be on your right, next to a desert landscape garden. Directions here.
Parking
Visitors may park in metered, staff, and student spots free of charge after 7 pm on weekdays, 1 pm on Fridays, and all day Saturday.
Daily, weekly, or monthly permits can be purchased from Parking and Transportation Services.
Metered parking spaces for visitors can be found in the parking lot outside the Barrick鈥檚 entrance, along East Harmon Ave, and in the lot behind the Lied Library.
