Dental

The mission of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó School of Dental Medicine goes far beyond graduating the next generation of leading dental professionals.  It is centered on providing care for underserved populations and discovering advances that will improve oral health care in the future.

We are educating dentists who are committed to serving the needs of our changing society. Through our efforts, we complete approximately 70,000 patient visits each year. Between 2011 and 2019, our faculty, resident, and student dentists provided more than $5.1 million in free care to more than 20,000 Nevadans through funded community outreach initiatives, and more than $3.5 million in free care to those most in need through philanthropic support at our on-site clinics. We are discovering breakthroughs, developing stronger educators, creating future professionals, and building better communities.

Thanks to the generosity of our faculty, alumni, friends and community partners, much has been accomplished since our founding in 2002. Join us as we take the next step toward creating a brighter future in oral health care and an improved quality of life for all.

To honor their mentor and friend, several of Dr. Brownstein’s former students joined together to create the Marshall Brownstein Award. Just as Dr. Brownstein fostered the development of budding dentists at our school, this award will be used to fund student attendance at various professional and educational meetings; enhance student leadership development through conferences and trainings; and support the personal and professional development of junior faculty who aspire to make a long term career in teaching the next generation of exceptional dentists.

Please use the Give Now link below to give directly to the Marshall Brownstein Award.

Supporting our low-cost community clinics through donations to the Better Smiles Fund helps provide preventive oral health care and education to underserved populations who would otherwise be unable to access quality dental services. Our faculty and students volunteer their time and talent to ensure the dental needs of our local men, women and children are met, regardless of their ability to pay.

Support of our community outreach initiatives helps bring preventive oral health care and education to underserved populations. Programs such as The Healthy Smiles: Oral Health Care for Parents Program provides oral health care presentations and oral hygiene workshops for parents and children at community events across the region. Together, families learn how to better take care of their teeth and how to keep them healthy through good oral hygiene and nutrition habits.

A major gift to the School of Dental Medicine is an act of generosity and high regard for the well-being of others. It’s an opportunity for a donor to transform our school and, in turn, profoundly influence the lives of hundreds of students and members of our community in need.

Your support can be directed to create named scholarships, endowed professorships, new programs or improve our facilities. In recognition of your support, the school will name a space or an area in your honor.

Some examples include:

  • $20,000 Surgical Suite/Classroom

  • $500,000 Named Endowed Fellowship

A named gift not only enhances the school’s ability to serve our students, faculty, and the wider community, but also provides a named legacy of your generosity for the future.
