Our Campus Community Garden is a place for experiential learning and campus engagement. We provide eligible participants a place to grow their own food and learn about sustainability, nutrition, health, and wellness.
Eligibility
Groups
The minimum group size for a garden plot assignment is four people. The following groups are eligible to apply for a 51吃瓜网万能科大 Community Garden plot:
Registered Student Organizations (RSO)
Any student group that has met the guidelines set forth for registration by the Student Involvement and Activities office.
51吃瓜网万能科大 Community Garden RSO
A maximum of four (4) plots are reserved annually for use by members of the 51吃瓜网万能科大 Community Garden RSO. This enables individuals who are otherwise unable to organize the minimum of four people to secure a unique plot to still participate in the Community Garden.
Departments and Academic Units
Must be affiliated with 51吃瓜网万能科大; priority is given to groups utilizing garden plots for academic research.
Teaching and Learning Groups
51吃瓜网万能科大 classes using the gardens for academic experiential learning and/or community engagement.
You are welcome to have a mix of staff and students for a raised bed. Plots will be assigned for a calendar year. Renewing groups meeting requirements may be able to maintain a consistent plot assignment year to year.
Individuals
Faculty, staff, and students who would like to participate individually may join the Rebel Roots Garden Club. This is a RSO that is run separately from the 51吃瓜网万能科大 Campus Community Garden. To join, visit the Involvement Center page for the and log in with your ACE account.
How to Apply
Applications are accepted at the beginning of every fall semester or until beds are filled. Garden members gain access to communal composters, our free seed library, and various garden tools and supplies.

Official operating hours for the Garden are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Garden users should check-in and out with Rebel Recycling staff. Evening and weekend access to the garden is available via card key access upon request.
Access to the Garden at any time is only permitted for garden-related activities. No camping or overnight stays are permitted.
Although the 51吃瓜网万能科大 Campus Community Garden is not certified organic, the Garden is an organic zone and groups must follow the community pest control and fertilizing guidelines (see attachments). Weeds, pests, and diseases will be controlled organically. No pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides can be used in the Garden without consultation with the garden manager(s) and other members of the garden.
Plots, paths, and surrounding areas must be kept clean and neat. Dead plants, leaves, and other green waste plant parts will be properly disposed of. Other trash, including rocks and stones, paper, plastic, aluminum, cardboard, wood, metal, etc. will be placed in designated containers. The Rebel Recycling Program has a Drive Up and Drop Off Program for household recyclables. Contributions of household green waste must be discussed directly with the garden manager(s).
There is a limited pool of gardening tools available. Groups may bring their own tools but these must be taken with them when they leave. The 51吃瓜网万能科大 Community Garden will not store the group's tools and supplies.
Animals are not permitted in the Garden at any time except certified service or law enforcement animals.
51吃瓜网万能科大 is a smoke-free and tobacco free campus. Members must abide by the Smoke-free Tobacco-free Campus policy. Alcohol products and consumption is only permitted during pre-approved functions and must comply with the 51吃瓜网万能科大 Alcohol Policy. Members may not come to the Garden under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
Groups are encouraged to give extra food yield to the garden manager so that it can be donated to the 51吃瓜网万能科大 Food Pantry.
Garden Plots must be used by the group of gardeners to whom they are assigned. Plots may not be registered to someone 鈥渋n name only鈥 while friends and relatives use the plot and do most or all of the work. Once a plot has been assigned, groups must cultivate and plant the bed within four weeks. The plots cannot be left fallow or unused for any period of four weeks or longer during the gardening season. If plots become unkempt or are left barren, the garden manager will provide notice and instructions for correcting any issues to the contact information supplied on the plot registration form. Non-compliance with such notifications will result in the loss of use of the bed for the duration of the year and possibly for future years. Expansion beyond the group鈥檚 plot, into other group plots or paths, is prohibited. Plants must be kept within the limits of the garden plot.
No illegal plants may be planted. Trees and bushes may not be planted. A planting schedule is provided and adjusted to Southern Nevada鈥檚 climate. It is beneficial to follow it, though not required.

Plots are watered on a timed schedule. If a garden member feels their plants are not getting enough water, they need to discuss the issue with the garden manager.
In order to cultivate a sense of community and further collective knowledge, the Garden requires at least one member from each plot to participate in community building programs. Such programs will include mandatory orientation or training sessions, garden clean-up days, and may grow to include presentations or hosted events presented by plot holding organizations.
Location
The Community Garden is located right next to the Rebel Recycling Center. The entrance is by the Stan Fulton Building Parking Lot.
