The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51吃瓜网万能科大 Office of Faculty Affairs has the mission to improve the lives of all those associated with the school of medicine through education, advancement, and support. The overarching goal of the office of faculty affairs (OFA) is to provide an environment for faculty to feel welcome, empowered, and supported in their growth and contribution. In addition, the OFA can provide assistance to individuals having difficulty in achieving their professional responsibilities.
The office of faculty affairs has two main divisions:

Governance
Governance responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Developing and monitoring mechanisms for faculty advancement
- Leading initiatives related to faculty governance
- Shepherding faculty through faculty processes such as promotion and tenure, sabbatical requests, new appointments, and leave
- Assisting faculty with the interpretation of the school of medicine policies and processes, per the school of medicine bylaws, handbook, and other governance documents
- Providing counseling, mediation, and conflict resolution/management skills
- Contributing to the school鈥檚 strategic plan
- Facilitating the annual evaluation process for faculty
The office also builds relationships with other units on campus, including the provost鈥檚 office, 51吃瓜网万能科大 Office of Faculty Affairs, the office of compliance, the office of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and others.

The Academy
The Academy is the personal and professional development program of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51吃瓜网万能科大. The Academy offers growth opportunities through various forms of content, including accredited and non-accredited courses.
Accredited Courses
Consistent with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) guidelines, we offer a broad range of professional development opportunities catering to the learning needs of academic medicine professionals in all stages of their careers. This is our continuing medical education (CME) program, which provides education and CME certification for physicians.
Non-Accredited Courses
Our non-accredited courses are not specific to medicine and include a variety of topics, such as leadership development, career advancement, communication, and compliance. These topics are generally set up as 5-7 minute short courses that facilitate growth through quick and easy-to-digest videos. We also produce long-form podcasts for more in-depth discussions.
Who Do We Support
The OFA governance area is primarily responsible for supporting academic faculty through policies and procedures related to the faculty lifecycle. In addition, The Academy supports all members of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51吃瓜网万能科大 through professional development and enrichment.
Academic Faculty

- Full-time tenure-track faculty
- Full time non-tenured faculty
- Affiliate faculty
Community Faculty
Building a strong partnership with the community is one of the main objectives of the school of medicine. This commitment is reflected throughout the many initiatives the school is involved in, including the community faculty program.
