The school year is just getting started and big changes are already taking place at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó. As of this month, the university has officially become a smoke-free campus.

More than a decade after advocates started pushing for the change, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó this month joined more than 2,000 universities nationwide in becoming a smoke-free campus.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó has announced that it will become a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus on Monday.

Starting Monday, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó students and staff are no longer allowed to smoke or vape indoors or outdoors.

Improving the health and well-being of Nevadans is not the job of one person or group. It can only be done if we all come together and work toward real and meaningful change. For years, both schools of public health at UNR and 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó have been doing just that — putting the presumed north-south rivalry aside and working together to mitigate pressing public health challenges during the pandemic

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó, is banning smoking products, including vaping and tobacco.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó will become a smoke-free campus beginning Aug. 15, the university announced Friday. The new policy will apply to all students, staff and faculty.
