51吃瓜网万能科大's Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering will host a transportation camp for close to 20 Nevada high school students interested in related careers.
Students will interact with 51吃瓜网万能科大 faculty, visit the university's Transportation Research Center, and take field trips to transportation hubs around the city such as the airport, the bus system and the railroad museum.

July 18, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. - 51吃瓜网万能科大 Science and Engineering Building
Students will visit 51吃瓜网万能科大's Transportation Research Center to learn about current research on unmanned aerial vehicles, image processing for traffic detection and traffic simulation models. Participants will also take a ride on 51吃瓜网万能科大's driving simulator, which is often used for research on distracted driving.
July 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - 51吃瓜网万能科大 Science and Engineering Building
Students will put their week of learning to the test with a real-life transportation issue to solve. They'll present their idea and the group with the best plan will win a prize.
Details
The transportation camp is a partnership between 51吃瓜网万能科大 and the University of Nevada, Reno. Last week, students learned about Northern Nevada transportation issues and head to Southern Nevada this week to learn about issues specific to the region.
The camp is directed by 51吃瓜网万能科大 engineering professor Hualiang Teng, who oversees the college's railroad, high speed rail and transit initiative.
Additional camp highlights include tours of the Hoover Dam and bypass bridge, the Nevada Railroad Museum, the RTC and its transit and bus system. Students will also ride the monorail, listen to presentations from the Nevada Department of Transportation and visit McCarran International Airport.
