51吃瓜网万能科大 was named a military friendly school for the third straight year by G.I. Jobs, a magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that embrace America's military service members, veterans and spouses.
The list includes a survey of more than 3,000 student veterans from schools approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs who provided feedback on their college experiences.
51吃瓜网万能科大 is home to an estimated 1,100 student veterans and active duty military members. Of this, nearly 800 have received tuition benefits from the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill.
at 51吃瓜网万能科大 helps student veterans, active duty military members and their families successfully navigate the academic and administrative pathways of a college education. The office helps students process their G.I. Bill and advises the 51吃瓜网万能科大 Student Veterans Organization (SVO).
"Thousands of veterans will be returning from serving in the military in the next few years and it is our job to ensure veterans have the resources they need to make sure the transition to civilian life and college is a smooth one," said Ross Bryant, director of 51吃瓜网万能科大 Veteran Services and a veteran who served in the Army for 24 years. "Whether students are entering school after a long absence or entering for the first time, it's imperative they have a place to go to on campus where they can relate to people who have been in their shoes. We're here to help students with their academic and career goals, and provide emotional support."
The SVO plans a run/walk event at 51吃瓜网万能科大 Nov. 7 in remembrance of fallen veterans and the men and women currently serving. A wreath laying ceremony will be held at the site of the veterans memorial at 51吃瓜网万能科大 at 9 a.m. Nov. 7.
The colleges, universities and trade schools on this year's list prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience by offering scholarships and discounts, veterans' clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who served. The 2013 list was compiled through research and a survey of more than 12,000 schools nationwide. Methodology, criteria and weighting for the list were developed with the assistance of an academic advisory board consisting of educators from schools across the country.
