Biography
Jared Oestman is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó. He received his doctoral degree in political science, majoring in international relations and minoring in comparative politics, from Rice University in 2022. He also completed an accredited certificate in teaching and learning in higher education while at Rice. He completed his master's degree in security studies in 2015 and his bachelor's degree in political science in 2013, both at Kansas State University.
His teaching and research interests broadly lie in the areas of international cooperation and conflict. Within these areas, he is interested in questions focusing on domestic politics and foreign policy, cooperation over the supply of global public goods, and the effectiveness of different strategies for resolving armed conflicts. His dissertation focused on the determinants of countries’ voluntary support to global peacekeeping efforts. His research has appeared in journals such as Journal of Peace Research, International Interactions, Armed Forces & Society, and International Peacekeeping.
