The 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó academic advisor awards are administered through the Office of the Senior Vice Provost. 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó will award 1 undergraduate advisor award and 1 graduate advisor award, with each carrying a $1,000 stipend. Upon selection, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó award recipients will become eligible for the NSHE Regents’ Academic Advisor Awards.

The NSHE academic advisor awards are presented annually to NSHE faculty and staff members with distinguished records of student advisement. Two awards will be selected from nominations from 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó, UNR, and NSC: one award for undergraduate advisement and one award for graduate advisement. Each award carries a $5,000 stipend.

Eligibility

Recipients must be nominated for this award and must meet the following criteria to be eligible.

  • Nominees must have at least 5 years of cumulative service in NSHE by the date of nomination.

DRI full-time faculty or professional staff who provide academic advisement to graduate students at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó and/or UNR as part of their regular assignments or as their primary assignment are eligible for the graduate advisement award.

Although these awards are intended for individuals, groups who by their collaboration have made outstanding contributions in academic advisement may be recognized as well.

Nomination Requirements

Nominees must be nominated by an NSHE employee or student. Self nominations are not accepted. Nominators should submit a formal nomination letter which speaks to the nominee’s record of excellence in advising. Requirements for the nomination letter can be found in the Regents’ Awards Guidance document.

Please note: If you intend to nominate a faculty or staff member, please notify the nominee and submit the nomination letter to them directly. The nominee should compile all application materials, including the nomination letter, into a single PDF file and submit it by the deadline.

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Supplemental materials (if applicable)
