Paul Gutierrez
Paul Gutierrez, '94 BA Communication Studies, worked as a reporter for Sports Illustrated from 1995 to 1998. Following that, he joined the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp Review-Journal as a sportswriter from 1998 to 1999. He then moved to the Los Angeles Times, where he worked as a sportswriter from 1999 to 2005. From 2005 to 2010, he was a senior writer at the Sacramento Bee. Afterward, he became the Raiders and A’s Insider for CSN Bay Area from 2010 to 2013. Since 2013, he's been a reporter covering the Raiders and 49ers for ESPN. Gutierrez is the author of several books, including Tales From The Dodgers Dugout (2005), 100 Things Raiders Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die (2014), and If These Walls Could Talk: Stories from the Raiders Sideline, Locker Room and Press Box (2021), co-authored with Lincoln Kennedy. He has also served as a voter for the Baseball Hall of Fame from 2009 to 2022 and is currently a selector for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, starting in 2023.
LaTosha Strickland
LaTosha (McGill) Strickland, '04 BA Communication Studies, is a mindset transformational life coach, motivational speaker, and mentor. She helps individuals identify and change limiting beliefs and thought patterns, ultimately cultivating a more positive and productive mindset to achieve their goals by working through personal challenges and developing new strategies to overcome obstacles in their life. Through her work, Strickland coaches individuals and groups and also does speaking engagements.
Myrra Smith
Myrra Smith, ‘20 MBA and J.D., recently joined the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp office of Ogletree Deakins as counsel. Her practice focuses on labor and employment law. Smith has counseled numerous employers on claims involving Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family & Medical Leave Act, the Uniformed Services Employment & Reemployment Rights Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Her experience also extends to negotiating and litigating class and collective action matters.
Jaime Spotleson Brousse
Jaime Spotleson, '03 Journalism, recently joined the development team at the ACLU of Nevada. She previously worked in media and public relations in Chicago, Nashville, and 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp. Her personal advocacy and volunteer efforts have focused on gun violence prevention, reproductive justice, local libraries, and public education. She is married with two children, and they enjoy rooting for the Rebels.
Laurie Eden
Laurie (McRitchie) Eden, '00 BA Communication Studies, is the co-creator of the book series, Tater Tot and Shadow, created with her mother, a retired Clark County School District teacher. Inspired by her love for rescue dogs and travel, the book series follows the travel adventures of her two jet-setting rescue chihuahuas as they explore exciting and historic locales across the United States. Her fourth book, Tater Tot and Shadow Welcome to Fabulous 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp, is a top seller on Amazon’s Top Wishlist Travel Books for Nevada. As a native, she blends some of her favorite memories of growing up in the Entertainment Capital of the World and the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp that people know today. When Eden isn’t writing, she’s traveling with her husband, planning events, selling real estate, and checking out the latest restaurants in Austin, Texas, where she resides.
Eric Sway
Eric Sway, ‘99 BA Communication Studies, has 23 years of outside sales experience — 13 years selling steel and 10 years selling building products for commercial and industrial buildings in northeast Ohio. Sway has been a varsity soccer coach for five years. He'd head coach for both girls and boys soccer at Crestwood High School in Mantua, Ohio. He's also head coach for U17 and U19 girls at Canton-Akron Force FC, where they just won the U17 Ohio State Championship. He also had the opportunity to coach in the nation championship in July 2024 in Denver. He's been married to Stacee (Appiano) Sway for 23 years. They met in the Boyd Hall dorms in 1997. They have a 22-year-old son Andrew, who is a senior at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó where he's been the goal keeper on the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó men’s soccer team for the last four years. Andrew will graduate from 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó this December. Sway still misses and loves 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó, and visits two to four times yearly and is just as proud to be a 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó Rebel as he was in 1997 when he first attended.
