Richard C. Linstrom has been appointed as associate dean for Singapore and managing director of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó Singapore Ltd. in the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó Harrah Hotel College, effective January 1, 2012.
Linstrom will oversee the Singapore campus with a focus on enhancing educational programs and strengthening research and other affiliations with Asia's booming hospitality and tourism industry. Linstrom will take over for interim head of campusJonathan Galaviz, who replaced the campus' founding dean Andy Nazarechuk upon hisresignation July 1.
"Richard brings a broad array of experience, talent and perspective to lead this important and highly visible extension of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó in Asia," said Donald Snyder, dean of the Harrah Hotel College.
Linstrom has been vice president and general counsel at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó since 2004. Previously, he was chief deputy attorney general and assistant solicitor general for the Office of the Nevada Attorney General.
The Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents approved the self-supporting 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó Singapore campus in 2005. No Nevada state funds are used to operate the Singapore campus. 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó Singapore will enroll 500 students this fall and more than 1,000 students have completed non-degree programs at the campus.
51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó Singapore is located in the National Library building and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in hotel administration.
