State and local officials will join leadership from 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó and the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) at an event to kick off a yearlong coordinated effort highlighting 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó/51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp’ role as site for the final 2016 presidential debate.
Event speakers include Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, Commission on Presidential Debates co-chair Frank Fahrenkopf, and 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp debate committee co-chairs Rossi Ralenkotter (LVCVA president/CEO) and Len Jessup (51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó president). 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó undergraduate student body president Kanani Espinoza will emcee the kickoff event.

The eyes of the nation – and many around the world – will be on 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp and Nevada throughout the 2016 presidential race. As an early caucus site, battleground state, and host of the final presidential debate, Nevada will be front and center in the political narrative throughout the year as presidential candidates debate issues here that will decide the election. 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó’s Thomas & Mack Center will be the site of the season’s third and final presidential debate Oct. 19.
During the Jan. 13 kickoff event, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó and LVCVA officials will discuss the impact of the debate on 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó and the community, and they will unveil elements to support a series of community events and activities leading up to the debate throughout the year.
