Dr. Sonal Shah (Dental) was elected Councilor of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology by her fellow oral pathologists around the country. In this role, during her three-year term, she will help shape the future of the profession and the academy.
Members of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD) voted for Dr. Christina Demopoulos (Dental) to serve as the organization鈥檚 president-elect. During her one-year term, Demopoulos will be a non-voting member of all AAPHD committees, will assist the president in fulfilling the AAPHD鈥檚 mission, and will handle other duties as鈥
Karl Kingsley, Ching Shen, Justin Simpson, Brigham Clawson, and Steven Lam (all Dental) recently published "Prevalence of Oral Pathogen Slackia exigua among Clinical Orthodontic and Non-Orthodontic Saliva Samples" in the most recent issue of Microorganisms.

Katherine Howard and Karl Kingsley (both Dental) with Keegan Lott, Paris Collier, and Marc Ringor (all Medicine) recently published the study, "Administration of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF) to Induce Neural Differentiation of Dental Pulp Stem Cells (DPSC) Isolates," in the journal Biomedicines.
An interdisciplinary collaboration between the dental and medical school resulted in a publication titled, "Extranodal manifestation of mantle cell lymphoma in the submandibular duct: A case report and review of literature." Linh Nguyen and Class of 2022 alumnae Cynthia Le and Vivien Lee co-authored 鈥淕ame-based learning in dental education,鈥 which published online in the Journal of Dental Education. The four-year study compared game-based learning attitudes among students within different stages of their Doctor of Dental Medicine program. The results indicated that鈥
