The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄÜ¿Æ´ó Resident/Fellow Handbook serves as the official compendium of GME policies, which apply to the operation and function of the training programs. Many of the policies are required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) as part of the accrediting process. Other policies are from the State of Nevada in the form of the Nevada Revised Statutes governing graduate medical education. Individual programs are also required to have handbooks that contain program-specific policies. Program-specific policies may be more stringent than those of the institution but cannot be more lenient.

It is the responsibility of each resident and/or fellow to be familiar with the handbook and know the policies available to reference when needed. Many of the policies should be reviewed by residents/fellows and faculty annually such as the Clinical and Educational Work (formerly known as the Duty Hours policy) policy, Supervision policy and the Transitions in Care policy. Updates will occur on an annual basis and notification will be made to all residents/fellows each July.

Nothing in this document constitutes a contract or creates a contractual obligation on the part of the Kerkorian School of Medicine.

Attestation of the receipt of the URL for the handbook is part of the annual orientation activities for incoming residents and fellows and each July for all remaining trainees.
